我们每个人都想成功。有人想成功地减肥、学吉他,也有人想学会快速阅读或开始创业。对于那些曾经尝试过但却以失败告终的人们而言,成功看起来难以捉摸。为什么有人成功而有人失败呢?首先,我认为这与人们的心态有关。其次,我相信成功的人士养成了一些习惯,这些习惯可能是他们天生就具有的,也可能是后天养成的,但却是我们其他人不具有的好习惯。我把一些好习惯列出了一张清单,希望可以帮助正在阅读这篇文章的你设定并实现目标。
Weallwanttosueed.Whetherit’sinlosingweight,learningtheguitar,speedreading,orstartingourownbusiness.Forthoseofuswhohavetriedandfailed,suessseemselusive.Whyisitonepersonsueedswhereanotherpersonfails?Firstandforemost,Ibelieveitisintheirmindset.Butsecondly,Ibelievethatsuessfulpeoplehavedevelopedcertainhabits,eithernaturallyorthroughresearch,thattherestofushaven’tstumbleduponyet.I’vemadealistofsomehabitstohelpyousetgoalsandachievethem.
1.Identifyyourcorevalues
Whatisimportanttoyou?Findingyourcorevaluesmayseemabitoff-topicwhenitestosuess,butcreatinggoalsthatareinlinewithyourvaluesiskeytocreatingintrinsicmotivation.Sitandreflectonwhatyouvaluemost.Pickahandfulofthingsandactuallywritethemdown.Remindyourselfofyourvalueseveryday,andreflectonwhetheryouarehonoringthosevaluesthroughyourwork.
2.Pickagoal(Focus)
Chooseonegoaltostart.Somethinglargeenoughthatwillgiveyouasenseofaomplishment,whilealigningwellwithyourcorevalues.Focusiskeyhere.Themorefocusedyouareononegoal,thehigherchanceyouhaveofsuess.Ifyouspreadyourselftoothin,youmightneverpleteyourprojectsbecausetheywilltakefartoolong.Believeme,multitaskingisn’tallit’scrackeduptobe.
3.Setadeadlineforsuess
Setadateforsuess.Identifywhenyouhopetoachieveyourgoal.Keepitrealistic,whilenotgivingyourselftoomuchtime.Bysettingatimelimit,youaremakingtheprocessmorereal.
4.Buildtherightmindset
Believefullyinyourabilitytoachieveyourgoal.Visualizeyourselfhavingpletedyourgoalintheexacttime-frameyouhavechosen,althoughfinishingearlyisalsoaeptable.Youdon’tneedtoconsiderthefailuresthatwillhappenalongtheway.Suessisinevitable.Othersmaythinkyouwillfail,don’tletyourselfbeoneofthem!(Ifyouhavetroublevisualizingsuess,perhapsafearofsuessislimitingyou.)
5.Consequencesformissingyourdeadline
Setupnegativeconsequencesformissingthedeadline.Necessityisthemotherofallinvention.Ifyoucanmanagetokeepyourselfintrinsicallymotivated,that’sgreat.Ifnot,thiswillhelpkickyouintogearandkeepyoureyeontheprize.
6.WeeklyandDailyGoals(Plan)
Breakdowngoalsbyweekandbyday,settingupaplantoreachyouroverallobjective.Keepthenumberoftasksperdayaslowasyoucan,andfocusonpletingonlyyourplannedtasksforeachday.Ifyoufindyourselfdone,pickthenextthingfromyourweeklylist.Dothehardestthingsduringyourpeakenergylevel,whichusuallymeansdoingthemfirst!
7.Prioritize
Prioritizethetasksyouhaveinfrontofyou.Don’talwaysdothemosturgentthingfirst.Pickthetaskthat’sthemostimportant.Sometimestheseoverlap,whichisnice.Byalwaysaomplishingwhat’smostimportant,youaremakingclearprogresstowardyourgoal.
Alsokeepinmindthatpletingthehardesttaskfirstisasure-firewayofincreasingyourproductivity.Ifyouputitoffuntillaterintheday,yourenergylevelisboundtodrop,andfinishingthehardtaskwillseemdauntingandmaybeevenimpossible.But,ifyoustartoffwiththehardesttask,whenyourenergylevelishigh,youwillhavethefocusandenergyrequiredtofinishitoff.
8.Takerisks
Pushyourself.Gooutofyourfortzone.Thisisthebestwaytolearn,andthebestwaytomakeprogressquickly.Ifyou’relookingfornewideas,beingriskaversewillnothelp.Thistakesalotofself-awareness.Tryandbeconsciousofwhenyouareholdingyourselfbackoutoffear.Pushyourselftobecourageous,andtakethatnextstep.
9.Perseverance
Failureisinevitablewhenyoutakerisks,whichiswhatyou’llbedoingifyouwanttosueed.Byitsverydefinition,thedesiretosueedatsomethingmeansyouareriskingfailure.Manypeopletendtogiveupfartooearly.Don’tfallintothistrap!Rememberyourmindsetearlier,andvisualizeyoursuess.Knowitwillhappen.Afailureismerelyyouworkingoutthedetails,andlearningwhatworksandwhatdoesn’t.Usefailure.Treatitasagoodthing,andmarchon!
10.Reflect
Taketimeeverydaytositquietlyandreflectonyourvalues,goals,andprogressmadesofar.Wherehaveyouexcelled,andwherecanyoudobetter.Iseverythingyouaredoingstillliningupwithyourcorevalues?Alwayslookforwaystoimprove.
11.Learn
Neverstoplearning.Knowwhateveryoneelseisdoing,andwhateveryoneelsehasdone,andhowtheydidit.Searchwideforknowledgethatmighthelpyou,andanyinspirationthatmaydothesame.Neverthinkyouhavenothingtolearnfromothers.
